Privacy policy
Your content stays where you choose.
Updated October 28, 2026. Applies to Attic for macOS. The website edition is not yet available.
App Store edition
Attic does not collect or upload any user data. It has no developer server, analytics SDK, ads or tracking code. Clipboard history, notes, shortcuts and shelved files stay on your Mac or in a folder you choose. Trial dates, preferences and unlock status are handled locally.
Apple handles purchases, restoration and offer codes through the App Store and StoreKit. Attic checks the transaction status supplied by Apple on your Mac. It does not receive your payment card details or send transaction records to the developer. Apple's privacy policy applies to information Apple processes.
Website edition (future channel)
The website edition uses Lemon Squeezy for licensing. The app sends requests only for activation, periodic validation and deactivation:
| Action | Form fields |
|---|---|
| Activate | license_key (license key), instance_name (this Mac's name, or Mac if unavailable) |
| Validate | license_key, instance_id (ID returned by the activation service) |
| Deactivate | license_key, instance_id |
Requests go to api.lemonsqueezy.com/v1/licenses/. Validation runs at launch only when more than seven days have passed since the last successful validation. Failed or offline requests preserve access; an explicit invalid response revokes it. Your Mac's name may contain your name. The license key and instance ID are saved in the local Keychain.
The website app makes no other outgoing network requests. License requests do not include clipboard, note or file content. The service provider can see connection information such as your IP address. See the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy for its practices. Future checkout pages are handled by the payment provider; the fields above describe license requests made by the app.
Clipboard and sensitive information
Clipboard history may contain addresses, passwords or other sensitive content. Attic tries to skip items marked confidential or temporary by password managers, but cannot identify every sensitive item. Content is stored as ordinary local files without additional encryption by Attic.
Turn recording off in the menu bar or Settings. In Settings → Clipboard, choose retention days, clear history or clear favorites. Favorites are kept beyond retention limits and are excluded from ordinary history clearing; clear them separately. New clipboard recording stops when the trial expires.
Folders and services you choose
You can move the Attic folder into a folder managed by a sync provider. That provider transfers the files under its own privacy policy. Attic has no built-in cloud sync. Protect sensitive content before syncing. Opening a web shortcut uses your default browser; the destination website handles the visit.
Retention, deletion and contact
Notes and shelved files remain until you delete them. Clipboard retention follows your settings. Uninstalling the app does not guarantee removal of its data folder, chosen folders or Keychain records. See Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send, and use it to respond. Do not send license keys or sensitive clipboard content.
This static website has no analytics, ads, external fonts or tracking cookies. It is hosted on an Oracle Cloud server rented by the developer. Access logs are turned off; only error logs (which may include an IP address and the requested URL) are kept for troubleshooting and deleted automatically after about 10 days.
